From first inquiry to delivered textile

How a Chaska piece comes to life

Every textile in the catalogue follows the same careful path: a conversation with the workshop, a documented making process, and a transparent handover. The timeline below shows what happens at each stage and what you can expect along the way.

Week 1-2

Initial consultation and palette selection

Week 3-5

Workshop assignment and material preparation

Week 6-10

Weaving, natural dyeing, and quality review

Week 11-12

Documentation, fair trade certification, and shipment

Week 13

Delivery and care guidance

From Inquiry to Installation

Each commission follows a clear sequence so you know what happens after you write to us, how long the loom work takes, and when your piece ships. No vague promises, just a practical timeline.

Step 01

Send your brief

Tell us the room, the dimensions, and the palette you have in mind. Reference a piece from the catalogue or describe the mood you want. We reply within two working days with availability and a rough estimate.

Step 02

We match a workshop

Based on your region of interest and technique preference, we connect you with a specific cooperative. You receive the weaver's name, their location, and examples of their recent work before we start.

Step 03

Sample and dye approval

For custom pieces, we send yarn swatches dyed with cochineal or native plants so you can approve the exact tones. This step takes about a week and prevents colour surprises later.

Step 04

Loom production

A wall tapestry of two square metres takes roughly three to four weeks on a backstrap loom. We send progress photos at the halfway point and again before finishing.

Step 05

Quality and fair trade check

Every piece is reviewed for weave consistency, edge tension, and dye fastness. The fair trade certificate and provenance card are packed alongside the textile.

Step 06

Delivery and care notes

We ship with tracked courier and include washing and hanging instructions. If anything feels off, write to us within seven days and we arrange a solution.
